Correcting our thinking.
Our thoughts feel powerful, they feel true even when we know, they’re all over the place. Thoughts feel potent and real, it could be said that they hit close to home.
We get so wrapped up in our own minds, often we miss the moment, we’re not present because theres a war inside the mind. We loose out on peace and joy.
But we can change this, although it takes some effort or work, in the sense of re wiring or re modelling. Let’s do a renovation on the mind, it’s a little outdated.
Often we’re living in the past, unconsciously repeating habits and patterns, ways of being and routines that no longer serve us. We could use a software update.
If we reflect about why we think and behave particular ways, often we don’t even consciously remember, it’s a deep rooted habit, a pattern of being us, a program.
What about those negative intrusive thoughts, the limiting beliefs, the feeling of worthlessness and lack, the addictive thoughts tempting you to cave in, the fear.
Those are also patterns, programs running in the background. If we compare the mind to a computer for imagistic purposes, these are like viruses in the system.
So what do we do?
Well, unfortunately we can’t always just remove them in one go, it takes time, we need to reprogram the mind. It starts with recognizing the lie. Next is replacement.
When you feel the spiral begin, the doom loop of negative thinking, bring it into the light of your awareness, be conscious of the path you’re going down and stop.
I don’t mean stop the thoughts, it’s not that simple (what you resist persists) but stop entertaining them. Allow them to surface, but see them for what they are, lies.
Once you establish the truth, replace them. Again don’t force anything, just concentrate on the truth, refocus your attention on what is true, wake yourself up.
Here’s an example: Lets say you think “i’ll never be able to figure this out, the effort is just a waste of time.” replace with: “I don’t know now, but I will find out”.
This is a slow steady process day by day. Imagine the mind as a garden, our job is tending the plants we want to grow, and removing the weeds when they pop up.
Always call out the lies in your own mind, every time they rear their ugly heads. Awareness is the guard at the gate of the doors to our subconscious, protecting us.
What have you been believing that you know deep down is false? How is fear controlling your thinking and actions? Are you ready to be free?
