The experience of the hidden season.

Most people who are successful or on their way to success, have experienced what I call the hidden season. This is a period of time where things feel quiet, slow and small. No applause, no celebration of success yet, no public recognition/praise yet.

In the hidden season, most people don’t see who you’re becoming, they still see your old identity, and externally most things do seem the same. But internally things are shifting, things are not as they appear. We’re in motion, growing.

This hidden season is comparable to a seed underground. To the outside world nothings going on, but hidden under the surface there is work happening, the seed fights to break from its shell, it begins to sprout, growing roots. It starts to push through the dirt towards the sun.

This is a season I feel many of us have been in at this time. If you are in this season, the good news is you wont stay hidden for too long, you’ll reach the metaphorical surface and your growth will begin to show up externally. This season was for working on the unseen things.

This season is preparing and training us. Before we have the external results we have to work internally and become someone capable of receiving them. There were old beliefs and ways of being we needed to learn to let go of, before we move forward into this next season.

The hidden season often teaches patience, by not giving instant validation. Courage by not giving instant results, forcing us to face doubt. We learn humility as we question if we’re even doing the right thing, aware we don’t have all the answers. This season teaches us things instant success could never show us. This season is foundational. We need these lessons so we don’t fumble future opportunities.

In the middle of the hidden season it feels painful. Dry and hot like wandering through a desert. You can feel aimless and lost. But every season has a reason. This one is no different. This season is a form of training. We are being prepared for what’s to come. We are being forged, strengthened and prepared. This was always part of the journey. Can’t skip all the uncomfortable parts on the road to success.

So if you can relate to the hidden season… Breathe, I know how it feels. I want you to understand, This may feel heavy, never ending and scary. Especially if you still don’t have clarity on where you’re going. But hold on, don’t quit, don’t give up. This is just part of the process. Often we grow through discomfort. Have faith, have trust.

This isn’t the end, it’s a new beginning. Although it may not feel like it in the moment, this season is a major blessing in disguise. it teaches us endurance, and as we know… Life is a marathon not a sprint. So, are you in a hidden season?
