Mental Wealth.
So we’ve all heard the importance of mental health and wellbeing. We know in order to feel healthy, we need to nourish and take care of our bodies and minds.
We need to eat well, exercise, get enough sleep, be responsible with substances, if we want to feel physically healthy, as well as mentally sound, centred and stable.
Here’s the part most people miss. We think it's enough to do the minimum to keep ourselves going, but we tend to avoid the real work, the internal work. Out of fear.
We don’t want to look into the dark parts of ourselves to find the hidden truths. What are our false beliefs? Why do we self sabotage? Why do we procrastinate?
What is our view of money? Is it a dirty thing that people only accumulate from taking advantage of others? Is it the root of all evil? Are wealthy people bad?
See how those beliefs can repel money and success? Carrying the wrong mentality around money could be the reason for constant cycles of self sabotage for example.
So let’s not be afraid to look under the hood. Can we see money as a tool for greater freedom for our families and loved ones? A blessing to share with others?
Can we start to view abundance as a responsibility that we can step into? A way to bring others up rather than keep them down? Abundance is an inner state first.
If we are abundant inwardly it will be reflected in our outer experience, but if we shut down, grasping and clinging, always feeling lack or want, that can be harmful.
This is the importance of mental wealth. An inner confidence in one’s ability to be productive. Trust/faith that things will work out. Helping others, being of service.
Being generous because you know it comes back, but also giving just to give with no expectation of reward. This starts building mental wealth. Being present daily.
We educate ourselves daily, we make good use of our time, we are endlessly curious, we are disciplined and we have structure to our lives, this positions us.
Fear is mental poverty, a sense of incompleteness, a feeling once I get this or do that, then I’ll be complete. Once I have this thing, then i’ll finally be ok inside.
Unfortunately thats not how it works. The process begins within, and the only way out is through. We’re worthy already, right here, right now today. Believe it or not.
Money doesn’t reflect our inherent worth, but it does reflect value. When we solve problems well, help others in a real tangible way, we get the benefits of our work.
Some people earn large sums unethically which is also true. But we shouldn’t compare ourselves to them, they play a different game with different rules.
The price they pay for their treachery and evil outweighs their benefits beyond comparison. If possible have pity on them, never envy them, they get their reward.
Developing the mindset of mental wealth will change your life. New learning opportunities are everywhere. There are billionaires who write books full of game.
There are millionaires with podcasts who share information for free. There are endless educational videos and free courses, there’s libraries in every big city.
We have the entire internet at our fingertips to either distract us, or help us to grow, learn new knowledge and wisdom, and find mentors who love to share info.
We don’t need excuses, or expensive courses and seminars, we need the right mindset, work ethic and framework, we need to build systems and structure.
We need to be present in the moment, not in the future or past, but here, aware of how we spend our time and energy. We need to be conscious of how we live life.
I believe this brief writing will be helpful to someone out there. My only question for you today is… Whats something in your life that’s draining your mental wealth?
It can be a false belief, a bad habit/addiction, a destructive environment, the wrong crowd surrounding you, lack of education or initiative, or something else entirely.
There are many factors outside of our control that impact our lives. Mental wealth is about focusing on what we can control and making the most out of it. Lets go!
