We’ve all heard of downward spirals, but what about starting an upward spiral?
Doing a little better each day, week, month and year. It wont be overnight but gradual, spiralling upwards instead of down.
downward spirals often start small but compound with time, the good news is upward spirals can be similar.
It begins small, one good idea, one good hour of work, one productive morning, one productive day of work, one productive week, and eventually we have months where we are performing at a high standard. That can turn into years of success.
The key is to understand that upward spiral isn’t necessarily always enjoyable or easy, there will still be challenges daily, the difference is that we are consciously working to grow, compared to the slow slip into the downward spiral.
Once the upward spiral begins it develops momentum, just like the downward spiral both have a sort of force behind them that can be easy to avoid in the begging but gets stronger as you go.
For the downward spiral after a long time for some they feel stuck, like they can’t get out, they’ve spiralled so low it’s hard to make the right decisions to change.
For the upward spiral its a similar concept, we’ve been working to make the correct choices for ourselves, the further we go on this path, the more likely we’ll keep going, as we are being rewarded now for starting an upward spiral.
Downward spirals can become upward spirals and vice versa, so we shouldn’t loose hope or get overly arrogant, we can experience either one based on our decisions.
These spirals start small, little things either getting done or not getting done. Things worked on vs things put off, education vs stagnation, lots of creating vs overly consuming. Waking up early and sleeping early vs going to bed late and waking up late. Eating clean vs eating for pleasure, working out vs chilling out.
The war of good habits vs bad habits in the individual decides if the spiral will be upwards or downwards. But ultimately we do get the choice.
