Setbacks and Slip-ups.

We all inevitably face a range of setbacks and slip-ups in life. It’s normal and human, but we have the ability to change how we react to making mistakes.

We can choose to dwell on it, to beat ourselves up and shame ourselves.

Or we can choose to learn from it, accept the mistake and keep going forward.

If we’re filled with shame and guilt over a mistake, it’s hard to be focused and confident moving forward. If we’re fearful and anxious about making a mistake in the future, it never helps our situation. The key is to be present now.

When we acknowledge that we slipped up, and learn what went wrong we are then free to be present and move on with our journey without vilifying ourselves.

It’s human to make mistakes, but we don’t have to let those individual mistakes become downward spirals, that often occurs because the individual can’t let go of a mistake that already happened so it gets repeated and becomes a vicious cycle.

So lets not let setbacks and slip ups hold us back, lets keep our heads up and keep it moving, knowing that its ok to make a mistake but it’s not ok to endlessly punish and berate ourselves over it, that doesn’t help anyone.

We can let go of the fear of making mistakes, they will happen along the way, people who are terrified to make mistakes will limit how they live.

It’s not a matter of if we will make mistakes, but rather how we handle them when they do happen. Choosing not to swim in the misery but to shake it off and let go.
