Daily Drop

Challenging chapters.

Every season has a reason, but this can be difficult to understand at times. Even the difficult seasons do seem to have a place.

Are you in a challenging chapter at the moment? I know what it’s like as well, to some degree. These chapters teach us things we can’t learn in the normal comfort.

Some peoples challenges could be harder than others, maybe more extreme or large scale, but everyone must endure some challenging seasons in this life.

These times are not to destroy you, but to build you up. The challenges are not here to weaken you, but to strengthen you through resistance.

Difficult times teach us important lessons, they show us what we’re made of. Challenging chapters are uncomfortable to a degree and usually force growth.

So how will we perceive the challenges? We can choose to see things as a powerless victim of circumstance, or we can make the choice to take conscious control.

If there is some glaring reason you’re suffering and you know what you have to do to change, it’s best to take action. Putting it off will prolong the pain.

We usually know deep down the things we can change, do more of, or less of, to improve some circumstances in our lives. But they’re uncomfortable to change.

Often we choose the live with the familiar discomfort rather than step into the unknown. Freedom is unpredictable, but habits are soothing even bad ones.

We don’t need to fear. Let’s do what we can to change any undesirable circumstances and do our best to grow. Let’s let go of the inner resistance.

In a challenging season there’s a tendency to shut down, to numb out, give up. But I want to encourage the opposite. Breathe, let go of the tension, worry and fear. Relax, smile, laugh, release the grip a little.

Sometimes we get into a little slump or hit a little bump in the road, it’s normal and human. It doesn’t have to become a downward spiral.

Let’s intentionally be present today. Here and now. A slump means a prolonged period of let’s say slow results. That period can end right now today.

Because you’re not in a slump anymore or a slow season or challenging season, that can end whenever you make the conscious choice to end it. So now let’s accept a new perspective… You were in a challenging season, for some reason related to personal/spiritual growth. We needed that for a time to teach us something.

But now we’re on the threshold of a new chapter… A new season of success, creativity, fresh ideas and insights, purpose and meaning, and forward movement.

So let’s move forward, from one chapter to the next, like turning a page in an adventure book. Let’s leave that past chapter behind and move forward in anticipation and excitement for whats ahead.

That challenging chapter had a purpose… Personally I learned how to have more patience, I gained humility, and deepened my faith. I also learned new skills and started new habits like daily writing.

What did you learn from your last difficult season in life?
