Daily Drop
Money is abundant, time is constrained.
Finances are printed out of thin air, whereas the time is non renewable to us.
So whats worth more? Would you sell the rest of your time for money? Well most do it daily. Would you trade places with a 98yr old billionaire for his money?
Money is not scarce. Money is abundant. Money is circulating at all times, trillions per day. Governments all over the world print money whenever they need. But time, time is a gift, it’s the days of our lives. So why trade time for money?
Starting out most of us trade time for money. Basic jobs with hourly wages. And as we progress, maybe we take a salary position at some point. Still trading time for money. Either x dollars earned per hr or x dollars earned per year. Limited. We need to make money, and it takes time to make money, so we have to sell our time right?
Not exactly, sure we still work for money in the sense that, yes it takes time for us to complete our work. But the difference is we are not selling our time anymore. We are selling value, results. We are selling a solved problem. A solution.
This takes time as well, the difference is we have leverage, we can earn more in a much shorter period of time. Being paid hourly is inherently very limited. We only have 24hrs a day, let’s say at the most you could work 16hrs a day for a while before burning out, but it’s still limited to about 5 days of 16hrs x hourly wage.
That’s still a very small number unfortunately. Same applies for salary workers. If you’re paid x amount per year, you’re in a limited spot, how many years do you have to work? and the amount of money you’ll earn? its roughly set already. Most people want to be retired by around 65. So, x amount per year until retirement.
See how these numbers are small and limited. They’re strictly for selling your time too. But what else are we to do? We all need to earn and spend our time somehow.
Well my personal journey has led me to entrepreneurship. When you own your vehicle, you go where you want. When a job is your vehicle to get paid, it’s like being on a city bus. When your business is the vehicle, you control the speed. And you steer the vehicle where you want to go. More responsibility, more reward.
If you don’t want to become an entrepreneur, You could get a commission based job. That way you’re not selling your time, but selling your expertise and skills. You’re not limited to selling your time by the hour but you sell value and you have the ability to earn more and more based on value provided.
The main point is to be a creator not just a consumer. We need to be the ones producing things, not the ones just consuming. If we solve problems we can be paid very well for it. Depending on the scale and demand of the problem we solve. Business can be detached from time too. At a job you’re stuck there the entire time because you’re selling them your time (life).
Starting your own business you may initially work way more than a job, but it pays off. A job demands you to trade 5 days on for 2 days off until you’re old. A business might require 6-7 days of work in the beginning, but it could also make you enough money to be fully retired in about 10 years maybe less. Job 5 days for 2 for life. Business maybe 6 days on 1 day off for years maybe less. Worth it?
As your business grows and income increases another beautiful thing happens. You can buy back your time, you can delegate. You can focus more on the best task for your personal skillset. Other things can be delegated. That’s how we level up.
Now of course some businesses fail and all have risk, but jobs dry up too. Jobs can fire you, jobs can lay you off or the company can fail. Business takes risk but it should be calculated, the rewards outweigh the risks. Id rather bet on myself and invest in myself than giving 20+ yrs of life to someone else dream.
Also with a business system you can be paid differently. Money can come in at any time, not every second Friday. Say you write a book and it takes 2 years. You can still be selling that book 10-20 years in the future getting paid on a time investment you made long ago. Can you do that at a job?
So I hope this encourages you to consider your options in the life. Everyone has the right to choose their own course, I just think most people are so programmed by public school systems and societal norms they don’t question things. Most don’t question selling their time (life) to a company that doesn’t even care about them. We all have a purpose, I can’t speak for anyone else but I know thats not my purpose.
Another important understanding is that money isn’t bad. You can do a lot more good for others if you have money. So it’s not noble to just work the little job and settle because “rich people are greedy”. More good can come through following your calling, you could help millions of people. If you help millions of people, you can earn millions of dollars. Money is a tool, it’s not inherently good or bad.
So beware of your belief systems. If you believe rich/wealthy people are all greedy and selfish, you will subconsciously stop yourself from being in a position of abundance. Yes some billionaires are evil and greedy, but don’t forget that in order for us to do good and to be able to help someone in need, we must have resources.
So I hope this helps you see things a little differently. What’s your dream that pulls at you? That sense of purpose and calling that drives you forward. Follow it.
