Working through the flames of anger…
Anger feels visceral, hot, more real than real. But if we act on those feelings we can make serious mistakes, sometimes we need a cool head to make rational decisions.
Don’t be consumed by the fire of anger, don’t loose yourself in its bursts of pressure, don’t let yourself explode from the buildup of heat and tension.
A strong person can control their emotions, even the most uncomfortable ones. A weak person lashes out on others blaming them rather than reining themselves in.
Of course things can happen to make us angry, people can do things that push our boundaries and thats not acceptable, but we need a level head to deal with things.
The results will be far better if we confront the situation with clarity, rather than lashing out, we can still be angry, just not out of control. We are still rational.
Think of all the things done “in a fit of rage” or “in the heat of the moment” most of those actions taken were violent, irrational, harmful, destructive and damaging.
Again i’m not saying we shouldn’t be angry, theres times its necessary, i’m just suggesting we stay calculated, we don’t loose ourselves in the midst of emotions.
There’s a time and place for everything, including righteous anger, nobody likes to see themselves or others being mistreated or taken advantage of. We can’t be weak.
All i’m suggesting is we learn to stay in the driver seat, harness our emotions, don’t get lost in them. Anger is like a stallion, the rider can’t lose hold of the reigns.
Do you ever struggle with anger? If so how will you practice staying clear headed next time you catch yourself lost in the fog of rage? (Deep breathing, helps btw.)
