Counting our blessings, and making them count.
Whenever i’m feeling down, hurt or in pain, mental or physical, I try to remember to count my blessings. This isn’t a call to dismiss pain or suppress our emotions.
Counting blessings is a simple mindset shift, a perspective shift. It helps me to stay grateful, and remember the good in my life. A reminder not to throw a pity party.
Making blessings count is the next step, when I remember how many things I have to be grateful for, I consider my responsibility to not take them for granted.
What are your blessings? Is it health? relative prosperity compared to most of the world? Resources, particular talents or skills? We can use these to help others.
We can take the good in our lives and do what we can to uplift those around us and share what we know. To live with purpose and provide service to others.
Ultimately it’s a call to action, a desire to do good, to be helpful however possible within our means, we don’t have to be the next Albert Einstein, just ourselves.
We all have unique gifts to give the world. This can be as simple as picking up a piece of trash or as complex as building a business that solves problems for others.
