Observing the mind.

Have you ever taken a moment to observe your thoughts? Not just feel them, be pulled around by them, be annoyed by them, but to take a step back from them?

It’s not easy at first, but you can do it right now. Your thoughts are probably telling you “this is dumb”, thats the voice in the mind, endless chatter, constant drama.

Thinking is a tool, but it can do more harm than good if we’re not careful, the tool can be used as a weapon on oneself. We overthink, and worry, it’s exhausting.

The arms can be seen as tools, but we only use them when we need to, imagine someone couldn’t stop moving their arms because they deemed it beneficial.

The point is, the endless noise of the mind is draining, so let’s learn to calm it down a little, find some inner peace, its available to us, we don’t need to earn it.

To observe the mind, we take a seat in witness consciousness, this sounds strange but it simply means we watch our thoughts in a non reactive manner. Like clouds.

We observe the patterns of our minds, the strangeness, the weirdness, the silly goofy things that our minds get so worked up about. It’s almost funny to watch.

We don’t have to resist our thoughts, what you resist persists, we don’t have to fight and wrestle with the mind, just don’t feed it your energy when it’s rogue.

For example as I write it’s important I use my mind, I harness it for the purpose of thinking clearly about what I want to express, theres a job for it to do. Its focused.

A good time to practice observing the mind is anytime you feel overwhelmed or anxious. Also when doing mundane tasks like washing the dishes or exercising.

So, let’s keep this practice up so that we truly understand experientially that we are not the mind, rather the one who observes the mind, we are not our thoughts.

The soul is one name used of many to describe the observer or witness consciousness. We experience the mind and thoughts, but the mind isn’t our soul.

Are you ready to take back control of your peace? Are you willing to practice letting go of the false control of the mind and simply observing its antics?
