Living now.
We often waste our days, our present moment, the gift it is. We find our minds projecting into the future, or dwelling on the past. Not being here now.
This is fine once in a while, for example it good to make plans, holding them somewhat loosely and being open to new possibilities.
It’s helpful as well to consider past victories and failures, to learn from our mistakes and to understand what we did right leading up to success.
This becomes a problem when it’s chronic. Just as pain is ok once in a while, as its a red warning light to the body and mind, but when its chronic its disruptive.
Sadness is a normal and healthy emotion to feel as well, but if it becomes a permanent state, we call that depression, it’s draining and counterproductive.
So we should look at projecting the future and past the same way. When we are constantly thinking of the past and or future, that is disorder, not harmony.
That is not living in reality but rather fantasy. That is trading away time in real life to enter into a dream world. This is often not helpful, especially for our goals.
In order to grow we often need to do the uncomfortable thing now, in the moment. We shouldn’t flee from the present moment rather embrace it.
We’re only ever existing in the now. 5 years ago that memory was formed in the present moment. Tomorrow will be experienced in the present. The time is now.
So we let go of the past each time it comes up, let’s unclench and unwind, release this tension we carry. We should be in today, not making up fears for the future.
Let’s work on being present, and let’s practice awareness. Because now is the only time we experience. How can you work on being grounded in the moment today?
