Breaking free from the grip of social media.
Do you ever catch yourself doomscrolling? How often? How much of your life have you already spent stuck in that mind control dopamine loop.
Social media is no longer about keeping in touch with friends and family, although they still advertise it that way. It has become an algorithmic trap to keep you on it.
The main goal of these companies is to mine your attention for advertisers that pay them. Keep you in the feedback loop of scrolling. More time on their app.
How much content do you see from people you chose to follow compared to what the algorithm just feeds you? I’ll guess your feed is mostly algorithm based slop.
These apps went from seeing people you chose to follow, to them telling you what to watch based on studying you. Millions of data points targeted at your mind.
Most of the content now? Outrage, fear based, playing on desires, lust, AI videos made to look like real people. Does this content make you feel good anymore?
For me it stopped being enjoyable long ago, but I kept scrolling, kept seeking those little dopamine hits, kept mindlessly consuming, wasting my time on garbage.
I know theres some good valuable content out there, but it’s like finding a needle in a haystack, even after curating my follows and feed I would get random posts.
So i’ve decided to take back control, no brain rot slop for me thanks. Im over it, its lost its positives like connection to friends and become an isolating echo chamber.
Have you ever considered experiencing life without social media? It may seem scary, like an addict getting clean, but maybe thats a sign of what it does to us?
Ive deleted the problematic social media apps off my phone, There’s some I only post content to, not slop but uplifting beneficial content, otherwise for me…
Its Youtube (Long form educational vids) Podcasts, and Audio books. Im so tired of the doomscrolling short form attention frying crap. Are you willing to try?
Let’s get our focus and attention spans back, let’s take back control of our minds and what we consume. Social media is like mental candy or MacDonalds. Its Junk.
Join me on this journey of living life in reality. Our phones have become portals to the world, a digital pandoras box, showing the lives of others, is this healthy?
What about your life? Your time? Your experiences? How much time have you already sacrificed to the pixels on your phone? When is it time to touch grass?
I don’t know about you, I have no interest in telling anyone what to do, i’m ready to plug back into real life. Free from the never-ending stimulus of social media.
