Allowing yourself the opportunity to fail.
Often we try to keep ourselves far away from the chance of failing at something. The sad part about this mentality is, it also prevents growth and can block blessings as well as unforeseen opportunities, and possibilities for development.
We need to give ourselves permission to fail at times. Because that means we’re trying. We’re putting in the reps, we’re exerting some effort and moving towards something. It’s pretty easy not to fail while being complacent, temporarily anyway.
But not trying is failing. This isn’t about needing to work long hours to be worthy, or that the goal should be endless grinding and hustle. It means we should be putting in effort towards our goals, using time wisely in this life we’ve been given.
We should take some chances, test the waters, see where we belong. We all have inherent abilities and skills that we can bring to the market, the main question for most is “Where do I fit in?”. Thats on us to find out, we may have to experiment.
In every loss is a lesson. Failing at something can be valuable, providing we integrate what we learned moving forward. We evaluate the data. We study the mistakes of others and the lessons they learned, so we can avoid the same pitfalls.
When we succeed at what we set out to do, we take stock of what went right, how we got the intended results. If it doesn’t go as planned, we don’t give up. We look into it a little. We use our curiosity to ask, what can we do differently next time?
If you’re never failing, either you’re a genius, or it’s possible you’re not exploring enough, we can’t grow much without expansion, discovering new territories metaphorically speaking. We’ve incorporated what we know, so we go out again.
Because when we’re in our comfort zone we’re in safe mapped territory. When we venture out, on an expedition into the unknown, it’s scary, but there’s treasure out there. We can fail out there, but we can also have the adventures of a lifetime.
The journeys, the risks, the chances we take, they help us to grow and develop beyond mere comfort and complacency. A quest develops our character and proves to us that even if we do fail at times, we get back up. We have what it takes to win.
Let’s be brave, let’s be courageous, we get to live in times of great potential, it’s a true blessing. Life can be hard. It’s not easy to get up each day, and risk failing, while handling other responsibilities. But what is the alternative? Staying in bed?
We’re made for more than that. We have those dreams and visions for a reason. That feeling you’re meant for more. It’s real. In order to act on those dreams and make them reality, we must invest in who we’re becoming and bet on ourselves.
What’s one way you can face down the fear of failure today? One thing you can take a chance at, to prove to yourself you are capable of more. It doesn’t have to be something monumental. Daily progress compounds. We don’t need to be perfect.
We can start small. Aim for 1 percent better each day. Failure is feedback, each mistake is a signal. If we want to progress, we have to accept the possibility we will fail at a few things. Thats the toll we must pay, on the road of becoming our best.
