It’s ok to feel lost.
It’s ok to feel broken, or messed up. To feel like you’ve wasted time, or that you failed. It’s ok to feel like you’re not smart enough or good enough. Here’s why…
You are greater than the thoughts in your mind. You are greater than the feelings in your body. We don’t need to be controlled by those sensations anymore.
We are the observers of our minds, we don’t need to be beat down by our own minds. Let’s observe the mind and stay aware.
We can listen to the endless chatter of the mind, almost amused by it. We feel our normal cocktail of negative feelings but this time it’s a little different. There’s a little space between the painful emotions and us. We can think and feel all of those negative things, obviously nobody wants to, but if that’s how you’re feeling it is ok. The key is how you react.
When we have negative thoughts and feelings, like the ones above, we can begin to believe it, the person who’s mind tells them they’re worthless, will believe the thoughts and change their actions, to that of a worthless person. They adapt to the lies in the mind. They begin to live out how they feel within.
Now that is the normal response to negative thoughts. People tend to get depressed and sometimes even have downward spirals. They might try to fight off the negative thoughts, but that’s done in vain since what we resist will persist. We can’t fight off thinking with more thinking. Only with presence.
So if you feel lost, worthless, stuck, like a failure or an addict or whatever false mental label you’ve accepted. Its ok. Because you are not those thoughts, you are something infinitely greater. We can deal with negative thoughts through awareness and acceptance.
We notice them, that’s the first step. Most people are so caught in the whirlwind of their minds they don’t even notice. They don’t realize that they are not their thoughts. Not every thought is true and we don’t have to accept it. But it feels real so the show goes on.
Next acceptance, we can accept that at this moment we were experiencing those thoughts. And we consciously allow ourselves to feel the sensation, whatever negative emotions are present, and we let them pass. Without resistance.
Fighting the mind is exhausting because it never shuts up. You have to use the mind to fight the mind. Instead we can just be present in the moment, focus on our breath, and just accept that the negativity is there. It will pass. Imagine trying to fight a raincloud? Instead we let go. Often these negative thoughts and emotions are trapped negative energy we’ve accumulated that needs to be released.
So when you have those negative thoughts and feelings, it’s ok. We don’t need to fight it. Maybe we can even smile, because we don’t need to believe the lies of the mind, we don’t need to identify with our thoughts.
We don’t need to get swept up into the fear of the world. We can simply observe the noise of the mind, letting the thoughts and experiences pass through. Not resisting the discomfort and not clinging to the pleasurable. Observing.
When we don’t let the negativity control us, we are free to live. We don’t need to allow the inner critic to condemn us. We can change, we are lighter now, more energetic, not being drained anymore by the pressure of constant negativity wearing us down. Because we still have thoughts, but they are no longer our master. The mind is our tool, we are not its puppets.
So don’t let your mind ruin your life. You don’t need to identify with your thoughts. Don’t let the fear stop you from who you’re called to be. Often the negative thoughts are to keep you from trying new things. to keep you in your bubble, in your comfort zone. Because if you try new things you could fail. And the ego wouldn’t like that very much.
Fear is just a protection mechanism, but often it’s over sensitive in these modern times. The mind sounds the alarm when there’s no real threat present, and now you’re in flight or fight mode all day.
So let’s recognize these limiting beliefs for what they are… False. Let’s drop em like a bad habit and move on. You’ll still feel them for a while, the difference this time is you wont be sold on the lie. We can just allow them to be there with non resistance and they will pass. Because you are not your mind or thoughts or feelings. You are not bound to those ways of being. You are much greater.
