The power of letting go
Often we feel if we want to be better, we need to control every variable.
We need to do more, control more, desire more, be more. All to fill the unease.
We feel that if we don’t control everything, it will all fall apart. But what if that’s not true?
What if things aren’t falling apart, but rather, falling into place. What if we stop clinging?
When we realize that we don’t have as much control as we may think, it can be scary, but liberating. We can have trust it will work out.
We don’t need to micromanage every detail, we don’t need to be perfect, we don’t need to always try harder, we need to be present.
We just need to show up daily. We need to give our undivided attention to our craft.
When we work in the present we’re free to let go of the failures of the past and the fear of the future, we are putting all our attention into the current moment. We are aware.
And something interesting happens when we release… Things begin to flow. Where there was once difficulty and friction, things begin to lighten up.
Where there was pressure and anxiety, there’s now a strange peace, a calm. Not because we did anything special, but because we stopped forcing.
We stop trying to control every outcome. We stop over planning, overthinking and ruminating, instead we’re here in the moment, dedicated and committed to our purpose.
We’re no longer driven by that sense of fear. The fear that we’re not enough, not worthy, that if we don’t control it, it won’t work.
Because now we can be free. We can let go of our rigid expectations, of how every outcome needs to be, and we can breathe.
Feel the weight lifted off your back. Let the tension out of your temple. Rest your shoulders. And breathe deep.
We can let go. Once you begin to let go, watch as you begin to feel a rush of energy returning to you.
Energy that was once spent resting life and chasing illusions, has now been freed for creative use. Enjoy it.
So what expectations or false beliefs do you need to let go of today?
