The simplicity of dedication.

There’s something about working on the same thing everyday, building a skill, learning something new, dedicating oneself to a purpose, a craft, business, art etc.

There’s a certain beauty to a devotion to a higher calling. A mission to be on, a wild journey to be travelling, and an exciting goal to be working towards day by day.

This way of being, this excitement we feel for our passion, this charges us up with energy. We stay focused and locked into our work for long periods of time, in flow.

Dedication simplifies things for us. Don’t feel like showing up today? “Oh well i’m dedicated so i’m doing it anyways, I got it.” It removes the ambiguity of indecision.

Dedication allows us to sacrifice for what is important to us. If we’re dedicated to being great at something, that means we sacrifice what interferes with our growth.

The cost of trying to do too many things at once is that nothing gets done well. What if we put in metaphorical blinders and go full steam ahead at our purpose?

Dedication allows us to block out the external noise. We can block out doubt, fear, worry, and distractions so we can just focus on the work we have in front of us.

Dedication means even when we’re not up to it, we still put in the reps. Dedication allows us to overcome our own laziness, we do whatever it takes each day to grow.

We have a standard that we hit each day, regardless of how much sleep we got, if we’re tired or feeling under the weather. We still keep our discipline and routine.

No we’re not robots. We’re not pushing ourselves to extremes. We’re not burning ourselves out or tyrannizing ourselves. We’re just dedicated, it’s really that simple.

And when we’re dedicated, we enjoy the process. We enjoy the journey of becoming. The development of growth. And we’re excited to keep going.
