Daily Drop

Progress isn’t always linear.

We often become discouraged when we mess up, we were doing well, then we gave into to weaker side of ourselves in some way, maybe over indulging in a bad habit.

The next day we wake up full of shame, we mull over it, we beat ourselves up, we’re frustrated even angry with ourselves. The day goes by… And the cycle repeats.

We don’t learn anything from beating ourselves up, if we did then we would be able to break the cycle of self sabotage, it goes on, we justify it by feeling shame.

Let’s take a step back and look at this situation more clearly. Let’s get honest with ourselves, it’s the only way forward. Theres a reason we keep repeating the loop.

We have something to learn, we are still making progress, it just doesn’t always feel like it, thats because progress is not a straight line, theres dips and valleys to cross.

We go through these for our own growth, our flaws and imperfections help to push us to learn more about ourselves, to analyze our weaknesses, understand ourselves.

With each day we cannot be perfect, but we can be better, even if thats only 1% improvement per day. Every time we fail theres a lesson embedded inside for us.

We can’t be afraid to look at ourselves through a new lens, we need to see whats going on behind the scenes. The wrong response is to give up and stop trying.

As long as we stay open to change, to a better life, to new ideas, we will improve. Problems, are lessons. Failing teaches us things success can’t show us, it’s necessary.

It’s on us to implement these lessons, to learn from our mistakes and learn how to stop repeating the same ones again and again. But we only truly fail if we give up.

Not all progress is made in a straight line, we have to be able to ride out the ups and downs in order to grow and mature, problems change as we do, they evolve.

Theres always problems, challenges and learning experiences, we just outgrow the ones we’re currently dealing with as we progress, these experiences teach us daily.

So when you feel down for being unable to overcome a certain obstacle, if you feel stuck in a loop, a negative cycle, just keep on going. The only way out is through.

We’ll never be perfect, but we can always be better. Don’t let the bad days tempt you to stop trying. Because progress like anything else has its ups and downs.

Everything is a learning experience in some way, we can view our struggles as little messages from our subconscious mind, telling us something about ourselves.

We can look to see the lesson in every “failure”, and we can use this as fuel on the road to success. The only real way to fail is to quit. So we go on, step by step.

Do you have a self sabotage cycle you’re in right now? Or a problem nagging at you that you can’t figure out? What do you think it’s trying to teach you?
