Sometimes it pays to be spontaneous.
When we’re living in the same routine day after day, things can get draining.
When we try something spontaneously, we allow new possibilities into our lives.
Most of us are always thinking, planning, scheming our next plays. Strategizing, weighing out the pros and cons of every single step. But what if that’s not helpful?
What if it’s all the planning and perfecting that’s really bogging us down?
Life isn’t always a problem to be solved. It’s an experience to live. We’re often taking everything so seriously. What about doing something different? living a little, shaking things up.
Im not advocating for irresponsible or destructive behaviours. Im suggesting doing things differently than usual, trying new food, new activities, less thinking more living. Less scrutinizing every detail, analyzing every option, more being present.
Some of my favourite adventures so far were not well planned, I wasn’t overthinking, I just decided to do it. They were just spontaneously thought up on a whim, like a plan sketched on the back of a napkin.
When we act spontaneously, we can have opportunities we never dreamt of fall into our laps. We can have lifelong memories from something fun we didn’t expect. When we’re always thinking, planning and worrying we’re rigid, dull and dreary.
If we can allow ourselves to be more spontaneous we add some spice back to life, some seasoning in our days. We’re not drones, we’re not robots. Not every step needs to be planned for, we don’t have to follow specific programming.
We can follow our gut, listen to our intuition, and have adventures in our lives. We can only do this if we trust ourselves enough to let go of some of the barriers we’ve put up in our minds, and step outside the comfort zone. That’s where growth is.
Let’s be firm, but flexible. Not frigid and fragile.
Whats one spontaneous act you can do today?
