Daily Drop
What if we just do the thing? Make the post, make the call, go for the run, ask the person out, try the thing, take the chance, make the move.
We often spend so much time calculating, planning, plotting and scheming for the perfect outcome we desire. But the ironic part is this often holds us back.
We wait for the “perfect time” or the “right moment”. This is a passive and unproductive way to live. The change makers of history didn’t wait for the perfect moment because they knew this was an illusion.
Momentum doesn’t come from always waiting for the prime opportunity. It comes from making our own opportunities with the resources at hand. Momentum comes after action not before.
So what are we waiting for? And why? Is it out of fear of failure? We know that if we don’t take the action we remove the chance of failing. But we also lose the opportunity for growth and success when we allow fear to stop us in our tracks.
Now there is a time and place for patience, observance, strategy and planning. By no means do I want to diminish the importance of practicing wisdom. Im simply asking if this is relevant to your daily tasks? Its unlikely.
strategic planning is wise and incredibly useful if implemented. But if we’re only learning to feel like we’re moving, without taking real action are we really being productive? Will that be enough? Of course not. So may I suggest, take action today.
Do the thing that you’ve been putting off because it scares you. Do the uncomfortable thing today, take the leap of faith. There’s a reason you’ve been having those thoughts and inclinations of how you can improve. Don’t ignore it.
its not about changing everything immediately, its about daily wins, incremental improvements and choosing behaviours that lead to compounding success. Write one page of your book, or make your first social media video, whatever it is that calls you. Only you know.
I just want to encourage you that you are capable. What’s one step you can take today towards the future you desire? How can you move one step closer to where you want to be?
Once we do what we’ve been avoiding we see that it actually brings a huge sense of relief. Motivation will rise up as momentum begins to work in our favour. Often anxiety is caused by knowing we have things we need to do but choosing not to confront it.
So let’s do the thing we’ve been putting off. Let’s put our future selves before instant gratification. We can realize our potential and become better people, not selfishly to gratify our own desires, but so we can be people that are in a position to help and uplift others.
Today is the day. The present moment is all we have. The future and past are merely concepts we use to organize our reality. But today is where the change happens. Transformation begins in the uncomfortable moments of change. Transformation rarely occurs in the confines of the comfort zone.
So with that being said, let’s take the action we can today to build a better lives for our future selves. Let’s live today so that when we’re old we’re not filled with regret but rather gratitude and love.
