Unlocking self forgiveness…

Learning to forgive ourselves for mistakes, problems and weakness is a powerful way to let go, to move forward as a changed individual, no longer the same person.

When we understand why we did the things we did, we can understand our past selves. We forgive others, we understand they makes mistakes, its the same for us.

We are (literally) not the same people we once were, every cell in the body regenerates roughly every 7 years. It's time to forgive ourselves for mistakes.

Not forgiving ourselves leads to a cycle or self sabotage and shame, it’s a vicious cycle that will show up again and again until we can decide to stop the madness.

Unforgiving thoughts and self sabotage can be found in our belief system, it looks a little like this: Remember past mistakes-Shame/guilt-Pain-Self sabotage-Repeat.

To break this cycle and stop the self defeating behaviours and thoughts, we release ourselves from ourselves. Forgiving others is healing to us, so is self forgiveness.

That addiction you beat yourself up about, that makes it worse, forgive first, look at why, try to understand yourself and your coping mechanisms. Go look within.

When we reflect on some of the reasons we do the things we do, we see that we have internal conflicts that lead us astray, we want our goals but we stop ourselves.

We want to live one way but we counteract our own intentions. We want to change but we return to the “comfortable” suffering we know so well. What we’re used to.

We need to unlock self forgiveness, so we may heal the inner wounds of the past, and be released from our own self judgment, beating ourselves up helps no one.

Self criticism and judgment feels righteous, it feels like remembering our mistakes so we don’t repeat them, but its not… Its vain, its acting like a victim, its an excuse.

Being unforgiving of ourselves is selfish, what good does it do anyone else? What change does it make to improve the world even slightly? It’s an excuse to not grow.

If we really want to be better people and we regret our past mistakes, we should use this opportunity to do good. To help others however we can, for the rest of life.

Being unforgiving is a trap, it seems justified and righteous but it’s shallow and self serving. We throw a pity party for ourselves without having to actually change.

It’s time to let go. It’s time to stop the cycle of self sabotage, being less than who we know we can be. We stop putting these self imposed limits on our lives.

Let it go, let it all go. Breathe in deep and feel the breeze on your skin. Give yourself permission to live. The past is gone, What are you going to do next?

What matters is how we live here and now, we must stop sacrificing our present moment, derailing our own train, over past pain. We need to accept ourselves.

When we heal ourselves, we can show up in the world as better people, we can help others and do more good with our lives. We can be a healer as well one day.

To not forgive yourself denies the world of who you can become. Forgiving yourself, loving yourself, gives the world someone who is whole and free.

The world will be a better place when theres more people who are mentally free and peaceful, people who aren’t always focused on themselves but greater things.

Self sabotage can end when you give yourself permission to live, to exist as you are. Permission to let go of the past and permission to get excited about the future.

Whats one way you can begin to forgive yourself today? What are your cycles of self sabotage? Is it particular habits or addiction? Something else entirely?
