Faith is an interesting concept.

It asks us to believe in something we can’t see yet, it asks us to have hope when we feel hopeless. It tells us not to give up when all we want to do is walk away.

When we have faith, it’s for something we desire to happen, we may not have any proof that it will happen yet, but we still hold onto our faith however lightly or strongly we grip. Without faith, life would look pretty bleak and dreary.

When we keep faith in life, we are living with trust. We are choosing not to allow the fear we all face to keep us down. We choose to look to the horizon instead.

Faith is knowing something we can’t know for sure, we choose to believe it. Is this just blind optimism? Or radical positivity to the point of delusion? Of course not.

The reason for faith in my life is because I choose to have faith. I choose to believe. Not because I have some special secret. But because i’ve been given many reasons to have faith. I think we all have if we’re honest with ourselves.

Without faith life feels cold. Meaningless, cruel, hard, heavy. You may hear yourself or others ask “whats the point? Why even bother?”. Faith is the point.

Faith that things will get better, faith that life is worth living, faith that things can and do change. Beleif that you’re not stuck in your current circumstances. Faith gives us some energy to keep going when we don’t see many reasons to.

We all have the choice to be optimistic or pessimistic, we have a choice how we perceive the world. I always aim to choose the lens of faith although at times I falter. It’s not necessarily the easy choice, but the alternative seems worse.

I choose faith daily, not because I have proof that what i’m hoping for will happen, but because I don’t have proof. I choose faith anyways because we always have that power to choose how we look out at the world. I choose the believe and trust.

Faith doesn’t mean having no fear or doubt. It means having the courage to move forward regardless, with a head held high, trusting, loving, believing, living.
