Need Inspiration?
Here’s a few things that can help us to get inspired, and that creative spark back.
Spending time with other people, especially creative people, sharing ideas and insights. Other people have different perspectives that we can’t always see on our own. Asking them to share how they get inspired is helpful as well.
Walking outdoors, is very good for inspiration, ideally somewhere in nature for me, surrounded by this beautiful creation we live in, breathing in fresh air, seeing new views, maybe a body of water nearby. If you’re more of a city person, even a walk through the neighbourhood, park, beach, a nice area nearby can do the trick.
Exercise is very good for inspiration, something about getting the blood pumping and the breath moving can really help us to get out of our own way mentally, and to feel more grounded in the present. There’s often a strong sense of clarity after a good workout, this opens space for inspiration to come in.
Listening to music is also great, a good bet is something that energizes you, it really depends what you’re looking for, either way music can take focus off the endless stream of thoughts and put us in a more open creative state rather than our typical analytical mental frame.
Making art of any kind can also free up a creative block and get us inspired. The interesting part is, it can be anything, if you’re an artist already and feel blocked in your craft you can try a different style of art. If you paint you could try sketching or pottery, if you’re a poet you could try making music etc.
Travel and adventure is another great way to become inspired. We get used to our normal environment, we get bored, it’s familiar. When we travel somewhere new and go on an adventure, we step into the unknown, we open the door to new possibilities, seeing new sights, meeting new people. These adventures often fill us with energy. I get so many creative bursts while travelling. I bet you will too.
Spiritual practices like prayer and meditation can also help us to connect to our higher power, which is the pure source of inspiration, this is something that as a daily practice will keep us inspired far more than we would be if we neglected it. There is abundant creative energy, it’s endless. We just need to tap in and connect.
My question for you today is… Whats the best method you use to rekindle that inspiration in your heart?
Next time you feel uninspired, try one of these natural ways to get the creative juices flowing.
