Embracing discomfort leads to growth, embracing comfort leads to suffering.
When we accept that certain situations may not feel comfortable but they strengthen us we will see that discomfort is simply a cost of success.
On the other hand, embracing and seeking comfort often leads to stagnation, a lack of grit and a lack of results, leading to dissatisfaction and disappointment.
Discomfort is not the same as misery or anguish. By no means am I saying we should torture ourselves or be tyrants over our own lives.
Im simply suggesting if we stop running from uncomfortable experiences, like exercise or public speaking for example, we open new doors to greater wellbeing.
When we live in our comfort zone we stay stuck, nothing changes if nothing changes. When we refuse to put ourself in situations where we could fail we also miss the opportunity for new possibilities in our lives, new wins, new success.
Seeking comfort or avoiding discomfort has never made anyone great. It’s those uncomfortable moments that build resilience and show us that we’re capable.
So let’s get a little comfortable feeling uncomfortable.
“We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret.” - Jim Rohn
